PERSONAL CONNECTION

Now after I know something more about the character of Tom Sawyer, I like him more and more.

Yes of course he made a lot of mischief, but the kind of it is funny and when you read it, you have to laugh. His Aunt Polly is often not happy about it, but when Tom made something good, she is really lucky and often Tom got a price. But sometimes it’s hard, always when something bad happens, Aunt Polly made Tom responsible. I read a passage in the book where you can see this. When Tom, Aunt Polly and Sid, the half brother, were finished with lunch and Polly went out of the room a short time, Sid happened a mischance. When Aunt Polly came in, she instantly gave Tom the blame. I find it really bad, because when I´m in this situation, I´m not sure what I have to think about Polly, is she really thinking that I`m always the bad one?

But now I come to another story in the book. Yes, Tom Sawyer fell in love. I think this is a very important situation for Tom. Maybe if he´s writing a diary it would look like this.

Dear diary,

Today was the most beautiful day in my life, because I´ve seen the most wonderful girl in the world. When I walked back home I saw her standing on the veranda and looking at me. Because of her I performed some tricks and when I was doing the best trick, she didn´t look and wanted to go inside. But then, when all my hope was going, making bang like a soap bubble, she turned around and threw a little flower to me. When I pick up the little flower my feelings of happiness exploded and I was the happiest man alive.

I really hope that Tom and the girl, who´s called Becky, fell in love and they will be a match made in heaven.

If I could be some of these characters I would be a person who would see Tom Sawyer and his friends. Best, I would be a girl who´s in the same age as Tom and who´s Tom´s neighbor. I´m not really interested to be a leading character. I think it´s more interesting to see how the characters are and how they live and how they are in their social interaction with people.

If I could ask the characters, I would ask:

1. Tom: "How old are you?"
2. Sid:"Do you like Tom"
3. Polly:"Where is your husband?"
4. Becky:"Do you love Tom?"
5. Becky:"Would you like to have a relationship with Tom?"

If I could ask the author, I would ask:

1. Did you live in St. Petersburg in your youth?
2. How much associates your life and this of Tom?
3. Is Becky a true person?
4. Where is Tom´s dad?
5. What is Tom going to do when he´s older?
